No problem.Image: NOAM GALAI/GETTY IMAGES We almost lost another great one. SoundCloud, an online network for sharing and enjoying music, had been crashing. The website was unable to pull in enough money to meet its costs. Last month, the company was forced to lay off 173 employees, which was about 40 percent of its workforce. Netflix binging offline may not be so simple after all. The video-streaming company announced last year that it would be letting users download movies to watch on-the-go in places where Wi-Fi isn’t available. It’s a great feature, but as is the case with pretty much anything, there’s a bit of a catch. The number of times a user can download a movie or show is limited, and Netflix hasn’t made it clear, according to Digital Trends. But according to the company, this information has been available since the feature was launched. SEE ALSO: The Netflix of power consumption is here […]

Starry CEO Chet KanojiaImage: starry You don’t threaten entire industries without making some enemiesor spending some time in court. That’s a lesson Chet Kanojia has lived and learned. A few years ago, Kanojia took on some of the biggest media companies in the U.S. with his streaming TV startup Aereo. Well before the recent explosion of internet-based TV bundles, Aereo became a tech phenom by streaming broadcast channels over the internet for a small monthly fee. It had the feel of the next big thing. The company had customers, funding, and no immediate competitors. It was all going to planup […]
